The Mille Miglia takes place from May 14 to 17. For the 33rd time, around 450 classic cars will make the journey from Brescia in the north of Italy all the way south to Rome and back again.
Still as popular as ever
The Mille Miglia has cult status and is so popular that the website's servers crashed because so many users wanted to register or find out more on the first day of registration.
Principle from the previous year
There are changes to the Mille Miglia every year, but a certain tradition remains. Due to the positive experiences from the previous year, the "most beautiful race in the world" will once again take place over four days and four stages.
Last year, an additional section was introduced, which was particularly beneficial for the many spectators. This allowed them to see and experience even more of the 450 or so vehicles.
This year we will once again pass through places such as Rimini, Rome, Pisa, Lucca and Milan. But the participants will also be able to experience many smaller, equally beautiful, historic places, towns and villages.
Participants from all over the world with cars of all makes
Participants from 42 countries have registered for this year's event. Most teams come from Italy, followed by Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Belgium, Switzerland, the USA, Austria and Japan.
The mix of registered vehicles is also interesting. The most represented brands are Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, followed by Fiat and Lancia. However, lesser-known brands such as Allard, Giaur, Kieft, Cargem and Gilco are also registered. However, Italian manufacturers are clearly dominant.
Further information, the exact route and the exact program can be found on the Mille Miglia website.
