It has been 22 years since the Renault Twingo was launched on the market. Its unusual (and cute) appearance and almost optimal use of space made it an instant success.
The French cartographer Jean Dulon was also enthusiastic about the little car. He decided to drive across Australia in the small car, which was only 3.42 meters long. Starting in Sydney, he covered 25,000 kilometers across the great continent, driving on asphalt and gravel roads, deserts and dirt. The Twingo took it all in its stride. Jean realized the advertising idea of "inventing a new lifestyle" and took the Twingo on a unique journey.
At the end of the journey, Jean Dulon had two Australian artists paint the car in a typical Australian color. Jean Moriarty, a designer from the Balarinji clothing company, and Frank Lee, an airbrush painter, gave it its unique paint job with Aboriginal patterns.
As a result, the special Twingo was also advertised with the slogan "The Twingo is like a boomerang. No matter how far you send it, it keeps coming back". It was fitting that Jean Dulon covered another 250,000 kilometers in the Twingo back in France.
The car has now been purchased by the National Museum of Australia in Canberra and is to be exhibited there as a national treasure.
