On the weekend of November 13-15, 2015, the motorsport season in the Eifel-Ahr region will once again come to an end with the Cologne-Ahrweiler Rally. At the end of the season, everything that rally sport has to offer in terms of fascinating historic vehicles will be on show once again, making the challenging special stage between the Ahr and Hocheifel a real highlight of the entire rally season.
Mayschoss is once again the focal point of the event. Once again, the event will take place on the premises of Germany's oldest winegrowers' cooperative and around the train station on the Ahr.
Open to new ideas
Even traditional events such as the ADAC Rallye Köln-Ahrwiler cannot ignore innovations. In order to increase equality of opportunity for all participants and also to ensure greater safety, this year the majority of the stages will be run on Friday between 8 am and 2 pm.
Spectators also have the opportunity to view the vehicles up close and experience the sometimes very hectic but at the same time fascinating work of the mechanics on the rally car during the course of a rally.
For the first time this year, the service will not take place along the route, but at an appropriate service area where all participants are expected.
Youngtimer Trophy
This year's rally will once again be the finale of the Youngtimer Trophy, the unique series for vehicles from 1966-1988. In addition to the circuit drivers, the rally cracks of the Youngtimer Rally Trophy will also be at the start, with Georg Berlandy, a well-known figure in the history of the Cologne-Ahrweiler Rally, leading the championship.
The starting order for the long rally Saturday will be announced on Friday evening at 17:01. After the autumn fog has lifted on Saturday morning, the teams will take on the 146 kilometers of special stages from 09:01. The rally leads up towards Reifferscheid and the Nürburgring. In the afternoon, the route then heads back "down the valley" via the forest near Bad Neuenahr towards Mayschoss, where the first vehicles are expected on the finish ramp from around 5.30 pm.
