The ADAC Rallye Köln-Ahrweiler will take place from November 7 to 9. The 37th edition of the rally will once again start in tranquil Mayschoss, which will be the hub of the event. The Eifel Rally once again marks the end of the motorsport season in the Eifel-Ahr region.
Since 1994, the rally has focused on historic vehicles. Participants in the Youngtimer Trophy and the Youngtimer Rallye Trophy are also at the start.
The organizer Scuderia Augustusburg Brühl has once again put together an interesting mix of special stages. The first special stage is scheduled for Friday evening and the starting order for the following day is determined. The next morning, the first team will drive over the ramp at the Mayschoss train station at around 09:00 a.m. to master around 140 kilometers on the best time between the Ahr and Hocheifel.
This year, selected special stages can be viewed in advance, which is possible on Friday morning according to a predetermined time and route plan.
Swedish rally legend and European rallycross champion Per Eklund will also be competing in the Cologne-Ahrweiler Rally in a Saab 99 Turbo. He won the 1983 edition of the rally in a Toyota Celica. This year he will be joined by Jan Olof Bohlin, who successfully showed Per Eklund the right way back in the 1990s.
The absolute favorite of the rally, with nine overall victories to date, is Georg Berlandy together with Peter Schaaf. Once again, the German team is on the road in the Opel Ascona A and will once again be fighting for victory.
Christoph Schleimer, who will be driving an Opel Kadett Gsi, is likely to be one of his biggest rivals. Michael Küke, last year's runner-up in the rally, will again be competing in a Porsche 911 RS, and Rainer Hermann, who will again be competing with his son in an Opel Ascona B 400 this year, should certainly not be underestimated.
