The Volcanic Eifel is shaking again: the eighth edition of the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival will take place from July 19 to 21, 2018. Over 150 historic rally cars will once again transform the region in and around Daun into a huge rally festival at the largest rally museum on wheels. The general conditions remain the same: after the shakedown on Thursday afternoon, there will once again be a welcome evening in the rally mile in Daun. On Friday and Saturday, 120 kilometers on the challenging special stages of the Vulkaneifel are on the schedule - mostly on asphalt. Only the Hyundai Super Stage on Friday with a drift bend, jump crest and water crossing will take place on gravel. In between, the rally mile in Daun with its interesting exhibits is always an attraction. Here, fans can look over the shoulders of the participants during service and the mile is a real Eldorado for autograph hunters.
Every year, over 150 cars from the history of rallying and up to 40,000 fans make the Eifel Rallye Festival a true success story. "Our festival offers participants the opportunity to show fans their treasures from the rally past live and in action rather than letting them gather dust in garages or showrooms," says Reinhard Klein (Cologne), co-organizer and head of Slowly Sideways, the association of owners of historic rally cars. Particular emphasis is placed on the originality of the vehicles.
"After the festival is before the festival," smiles organization manager Otmar Anschütz from the organizing MSC Daun. "After a short break, preparations for 2018 began quickly and are already in full swing." Now that the date has been set, the detailed planning can begin. "This year, we were able to fall back on a lot of tried-and-tested elements with the new organizing team, but some new features are now planned for next year," says Anschütz. "Preparations are underway and fans can already look forward to an exciting and spectacular Eifel Rallye Festival 2018."
