The entry list for the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival from July 23 to 25, 2015 had to be closed early because the rush was too great. Over 200 entries from all over Europe have been received, with a maximum of 150 starting places available.
This time, the motto of the largest rally museum on wheels is "originality". The focus is on the fact that mainly originals or very faithful replicas will be at the start.
The world champions Hannu Mikkola / Arne Hertz in the Eifel
Hannu Mikkola from Finland and his long-time co-driver Arne Hertz from Sweden competed together in the World Rally Championship for 13 years. In 1983, they became world champions in an Audi quattro, the first world champions in an all-wheel drive vehicle. The two Finns will be competing in the Eifel for the first time. They will be driving one of the Mercedes 450 SLC 5.0s from the Mercedes museum in which they won the 1979 World Championship race on the Ivory Coast.
They share the car with Scotsman Andrew Cowan, who was also a works driver for Mercedes. However, most fans know the successful rally driver in his role as founder and head of Mitsubishi Ralliart Europe. One brand title (1998) and four drivers' world championship titles with Tommi Mäkinen from 1996 to 1999 are on his list of achievements. In addition to Hannu, Arne and Andrew, many other top drivers have already confirmed their participation.
The Rally Mile - a veritable museum
When the participants of the Eifel Rallye Festival are not on the special stages of the Vulkaneifel, fans can admire them in the Rally Mile in the middle of Daun. Between the two service areas, Leopoldstrasse in the middle of Daun is transformed into a veritable museum.
As a special service for participants, this year there will also be an exhibitor with everything a rally driver needs.
