It will certainly not be the most talked about premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, but for many fans of the Morgan brand it will be a wistful one. Morgan will be launching the Morgan Plus 8 "50th Anniversary Edition" on March 6, 2018. The plan is for 50 cars to be sold via the normal dealer network and they will be the last Morgan Plus 8.
It is fitting that these come just as the Morgan Plus 8 celebrates its 50th birthday.
It was shown for the first time at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1968, and right from the start it was breathtakingly fast and sporty, even though the Rover V8 only produced around 150 hp at the rear axle.
With around 6000 Plus 8 models built to date, the model can certainly be described as a success. However, there was another caesura in 2004, when Rover gave up its own V8 engine.
Eight years later, however, the Plus 8 was reborn, this time with a BMW V8 at the front. But even this naturally aspirated engine has now come to an end and so once again the end of the Plus 8 is looming. The final edition with a weight of 1100 kg and a top speed of almost 250 km/h is now coming to a close. What a final bouquet.
