Summary
The 39th Geneva Motor Show welcomed almost 530,000 visitors, who came face to face with 1222 exhibitors. Many world and European premieres, including the Maserati Indy, the Fiat 130, the Lancia Flavia Coupé 2000, the Citroën Ami 8 and the Porsche 917, were presented to the public for the first time. However, the special bodies and concept cars caused even more of a stir, especially the BMW 2800 Scicup and the Sigma Grand Prix. There was a lot to see in Geneva, not only cars but also motorcycles and boats. This report summarizes the most important events surrounding the 39th Motor Show and shows vehicles and accessories in over 230 pictures, some of which have never been seen in such high resolution before.

The 39th Geneva Motor Show, which opened its doors from March 13 to 23, 1969, got off to an excellent start. Around ten percent more passenger cars had been registered in 1968 than in the previous year. There was a veritable car euphoria and many innovations were announced for the show, even world premieres were expected. This attracted 529,179 visitors (a slight increase on the previous year) to Geneva; on the first Sunday alone, 88,000 car enthusiasts tried to catch a glimpse of the numerous new products. Incidentally, they paid an admission fee of five francs. There were not only cars on display, but also motorcycles - for the first time in four years - , boats and camping vehicles, and of course garage accessories and equipment products for cars, but not commercial vehicles and buses, as was the case last year. 1222 exhibitors from 21 countries showed their products on 33,330 square meters. The fact that a stand was on average only 27 square meters in size, including the aisles between the exhibition areas, indicates that space was somewhat limited.
