International
Participants from 8 nations in 66 vehicles will start Austria's most famous winter rally in January in what is expected to be the best winter weather conditions (there is already snow all the way down to the valley!) - never before have there been so many! And there is no shortage of automotive celebrities in the starting field either: the oldest car dates back to 1924, making it 102 years old.
Behind Shaun Harborne's Bentley 3/4.5 Red Label Speed, which will lead the field, is a veritable armada of honorably greyed old sheet metal from the pre-1945 era: Bugatti T35 (1928), another Bentley 3/4.5 Litre (1929), Sunbeam Super Sports, Austin Seven Ulster Special, Frazer Nash, Bugatti T51, Delage D6-80!
Brand diversity
The range of automotive rarities stretches all the way back to 1976 and includes a total of 24 different car brands.
Three days of winter rally
The starting signal for the Planai-Classic is traditionally given on Thursday, January 8th with the Dachstein Prologue, before which the unique starting field gathers on the main square in Schladming and you can admire the vehicles up close from 4:00 pm on the starting grid.
On Friday, January 9, the participants will tackle the Schladming-Dachstein panorama circuit before the day reaches its sporting climax with the Night Challenge at the Gröbming trotting track.
On Saturday, January 10, the special stage at the Niederöblarn Alpine airfield and the legendary Planai mountain classification are on the program.
A total of 42 demanding special stages over a distance of 280 kilometers await the participants, making the Planai-Classic one of the most challenging winter rallies in Europe.
All information and the start list can be found on the rally website.
