With more than 1,250 exhibitors from more than 30 nations, the 28th Techno-Classica Essen from April 6 to 10, 2016, cemented its importance as the number one international classic car fair. The "World Fair for Classic Cars, Classic & Prestige Automobiles, Motorsports, Motorcycles, Spare Parts, Restoration and World Club Meeting", which was first held in 1989, is not only the pioneer of the scene and the oldest international classic car fair. It aims to set standards again in 2016 and serve as a role model for other events.
More than 2,500 classics
The certainly lavishly staged presentations by more than 25 German and international automobile manufacturers will once again make Techno-Classica Essen the largest history show of the automotive industry in the world next April. With their spectacular presentations, the car manufacturers will demonstrate the importance they attach to the world classic car fair. For the more than 220 exhibiting classic car clubs and interest groups, Techno-Classica Essen will once again be the most important classic car fair of the year in 2016: they make the leading fair of the classic car scene the world's largest club meeting place for the classic and modern classic car scene.
In the more than 25 years of its existence, Techno-Classica Essen has become the most important meeting place and measurably the most successful trading venue for the international classic car scene: More than 2500 classic cars, collectors' and enthusiasts' vehicles, modern classics and prestige automobiles are for sale.
Over 190,000 visitors
In addition, next April's Techno-Classica Essen will once again be attended by more restorers, suppliers, car literature providers, spare parts dealers, accessories sellers, watch and technology dealers, artists and gallery owners, publishers and, last but not least, car model suppliers than at any other classic car show in the world. As a result, the specialist dealers - as well as the expected 190,000 visitors - now come not only from all over Europe, but also from overseas. Exhibitors from North and South America and even China will be presenting their products.
Spectacular special show
However, the appeal of Techno-Classica is not only rooted in quantity and quality: every year, it also offers the true connoisseurs among the classic car connoisseurs a spectacular special show of automotive history delicacies.
In 2016, S.I.H.A. will once again be organizing an extraordinary special show at the heart of the Techno-Classica Essen World Classic Fair in Hall 6. It will present rare historic racing cars that all took part in the legendary Mille Miglia in 1955, probably the toughest automobile race after the Second World War. Ten competition cars are expected to be on display, which took part in the third round of the World Sports Car Championship in Brescia on May 1, 1955 and fought a dramatic race on the 1,000-mile Brescia circuit.
At the center of the Mille Miglia special show is a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. The type in which Juan Manuel Fangio achieved a sensational second place after 1,597 kilometers of racing - the entire distance without a co-driver. The car from the Mercedes-Benz Museum with the starting number 658, which stands for Fangio's start time at 6.58 in the morning, will adorn the S.I.H.A. stand, the "Palais de l'Automobile" in Hall 6, together with other racing cars. A Ferrari 750 Monza, which took 6th place, a Porsche 550 Spyder, which took 8th place, and a Maserati A6 GCS, which crossed the finish line in fourth place in Brescia, are also planned as exhibits.
At the time, Mercedes-Benz had achieved a double victory with the 300 SLR racing sports car: The Stirling Moss/ Denis Jenkison team won with a new track record and an average speed of 157.6 km/h ahead of Juan Manuel Fangio, who completed the grueling road race alone. A race that made motorsport history.
Automotive event for the whole family
The five-day trade fair offers everything, but really everything, to do with collector's automobiles - including many celebrities from film and television, racing driver stars from the past and present of motorsport and the most important decision-makers from the classic car scene. The wide-ranging program has also ensured that Techno-Classica Essen has developed into a first-class automotive event for the whole family...
