In 1964, the small English sports car company Marcos presented the GT model, a flat flounder with a four-cylinder engine and a plywood chassis that promised low weight combined with high torsional rigidity. Around 400 vehicles were built until 1969, when Marcos also switched to conventional tubular frame constructions. This report portrays a Marcos 1600 GT from 1967, describes its unusual technology and shows the car in current and historical illustrations, as well as in original brochures from the time.
