Preview (beginning of the article)
The year 1960 went down in history as the year in which a monkey called "Miss Sam" was shot into space, John F. Kennedy was elected President of the United States, 18 African colonies became independent, the French franc was reformed and the contraceptive pill came onto the (American) market. But 1960 was also the year in which the state-owned Volkswagen GmbH was privatized, free jazz (or at least its name) was invented, Alfred Hitchcock's film "Psycho" was released and women in Geneva were given the right to vote. Which brings us to the right place, because from March 10 to 20, 1960, the Geneva Motor Show invited car enthusiasts, those interested in technology and those hungry for horsepower to visit the 32,000 square meter exhibition, which, in addition to cars, also featured buses, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, boats and all kinds of accessories.
