There have been around 10,000 car brands and designers - most of them have disappeared. Dino is one such vanished brand. Created by Enzo Ferrari as a second brand, Dino produced its first model in 1966, the Dino 206 GT, which was a masterpiece. Further models were produced until 1980.

Because the term Ferrari stands above everything else for them, some Dino owners call their four-wheeled favorite by this great name, and have even mounted it on the Dino front. Wrongly so, because the Dino brand is incomparably more exclusive: the total number of cars built in 15 years is less than a Ferrari's annual output today! Admittedly, competitors at the time, Maserati and Lamborghini, built their smaller models under the same brand name, and there were indeed racing cars called Ferrari Dino. But Dino was officially launched as a second brand by Commendatore Enzo Ferrari in 1966. He used it to commemorate his son Alfredino, who had died ten years earlier at the age of 24 and had already distinguished himself as a highly talented engineer.
