The first live auction with an audience by Bonhams lasted less than 1.5 hours on April 23, 2021 at the Fairmont Hotel in Monte Carlo, on the Friday before the Monaco Grand Prix Historique. 25 cars and six small Honda motorcycles vied for the few visitors to the venue and an international bidding audience on the phone or on the Internet browser. The interesting offer had also triggered many pre-bids, so that a success could probably be predicted even with only 29% no-reserve lots. On average, 78% of the median estimate was bid and 68% of the lots were sold. Initially, it looked as if the 1936 Delahaye 135 MS Compétition Court, which competed at Le Mans in 1939, would not be sold. The bids stopped at EUR 650,000. However, immediately after the auction ended, an interested party was found who was prepared to dig deeper into his pockets and ultimately paid EUR 839,500 for the magnificent sports car.
