The first edition took place in August 2021 , and four meetings have now been announced for 2022 at the Albisgütli in Zurich. The 2022 premiere on April 24, 2022 still suffered somewhat from damp weather, so that some participants probably preferred to arrive with relatively modern undercarriages, but the variety of cars from around eight decades on offer was nevertheless impressive.
Déjà vu, this is how tradition is created
On the last Sunday in April 2022, much was reminiscent of the Albisgütli Classics "prologue" on August 29, 2021. The weather was pretty similar, not consistently wet, but still a little damp. The photo facility was also there again, offering each participant a picture of their car.
And other "regulars" also felt right at home. As an innovation, there were military cheese slices, which probably triggered nostalgic memories for one or two connoisseurs.
From bread-and-butter cars to the exotic
The range of cars was wide. A Licorne from the pre-war period was probably the oldest car on the course, an age of 30 years was actually considered the limit for the younger vehicles, but one or two youngtimers still made it onto the course. And that was a good thing, because there was plenty of space thanks to the generous parking area.
Once again, the mix of former everyday cars and top-class exotics was exciting.
Whether Ford Escort or Renault 4, Alfa Romeo Montreal, BMW 1800 as a Coune station wagon or Nash Ambassador, they were all admired.
The beautiful square, from which you can even see Lake Zurich, encouraged people to take leisurely strolls between the rows of cars and, as there was a constant coming and going, you could discover new cars (and motorcycles and tractors) on every lap.
Reunion in July?
Three more dates are planned for 2022: on the Sundays of July 10, August 14 and September 18, you can once again view classic cars at Albisgütli or even drive there yourself in your old car. Admission is free and getting there is easy.
