Summary
The Renault R8 was built from 1962 to 1973 as a relative of the 4 CV and Dauphine models. With its compact, no-frills body and advanced technology, it won over more than 1.3 million buyers. This report covers the Renault R8 Major, which was offered from 1964 with an enlarged engine and additional comfort. Many pictures, original brochures and sound samples show the compact French car from all its sides.

In 1956, the Renault Dauphine appeared at the same time, adopting the proven design of the 4 CV but already offering five seats and a four-speed gearbox.
