The British automotive industry was one of the dominant forces before and after the Second World War. Vauxhall was one of the major manufacturers and, with its 10-4, 12-4 and 14-6 models, offered modern and affordable vehicles for the discerning motorist. This article focuses on the post-war "Twelve" and shows it in current and historical images.

"It should be noted in advance that the English industry has a very rare wealth of types. There are around 150 main models, to which a number of secondary types can be added. It goes without saying that among so many car models (and car brands, which can be estimated at around 35) there are some outsider designs that cannot be considered standard. It is also clear that the other types cannot all be lumped together, and that there are significant differences even within the very narrow limits of the same cubic capacity or the same price category. ... As in all European countries, the small car plays the predominant role on the British market. However, it is not the case across the Channel, as in the continental countries, that a few factories producing in very large series (as only these large series make them competitive) work in this area.
