Summary
Between 1989 and 1991, Porsche built the 944 S2 Cabriolet, which can be seen as the indirect successor to the 356 Cabriolet of the 1960s. Almost 700 examples were sold and they are still popular with sun worshippers and sports car drivers today. This vehicle report describes the history of the Porsche 944 S2 and shows a convertible from 1989 with extensive photo material.

Rather, the price of DM 89,900 or CHF 83,100 was an obstacle to buying the pretty convertible. In 1976, after the 914, Porsche presented another popular sports car, the 924. The fact that it had originally been created as a project for Volkswagen was immediately apparent to early buyers, as some of the interior came directly from the VW spare parts warehouse. What was most resented about the pretty coupé, however, was that the engine was also normally used in Audi and Volkswagen models.
