MG WA - fast, safe and convenient
Summary
The MG brand is and was primarily known for light and compact sports cars. However, MG could and wanted to do things differently, and in the second half of the 1930s it took on the competition from SS Cars and Bentley with the SA and WA models. The SA and even more so the WA were luxurious touring models that were just as comfortable as they were sporty. However, the cars were not cheap and so they remained rare. And they still are today. This report describes the history of the MG WA and shows an example in many photos, supplemented by rare sales brochures and historical photographs.

The MG brand is and was primarily known for light and compact sports cars. Perhaps the best-known car before the MGA and MGB mass models was the TC and its successors TD and TF, and these were directly descended from the manufacturer's pre-war range with the octagon as the brand emblem. The MG TC made its big appearance in the movie "Love Story" and was particularly popular with the Americans. But even on this side of the Atlantic, the MG TC was the first sports car for many owners after the war. In the 1920s and 1930s, the MG brand built fast cars that had to be beaten in racing. The six-cylinder models in particular were perennial contenders for race and class victories. The smaller classes were dominated by lightweight four-cylinder models that were comparatively easy to maintain.
