Summary
When Lancia presented the Pininfarina Coupé for the Flaminia in 1958, this was a logical addition to the product range, which in addition to the saloon (also designed by Pininfarina) also included two sporty coupés from Touring and Zagato as well as a convertible. The Pininfarina Coupé inherited all the technical advantages of the saloon and was considered to be the perfect long-distance companion for the upper classes. This driving report tells the story of the elegant coupé and shows an example in many photos, supplemented by historical illustrations and sales literature.

Guido Anselmi, played by Marcello Mastroianni in the film "Otto e Mezzo" by Federico Fellini, is an established director and drives a Lancia Flaminia as a Pininfarina coupé. The elegant coupé is a perfect match for the distinguished but no longer quite young beau Mastroianni. And just like the movie and the actor, the coupé was almost forgotten and seems strangely alien today. But let's take a look back first. Pininfarina's Flaminia Coupé was shown for the first time at the Turin Motor Show in the late fall of 1958, where the Touring and Zagato variants also made their appearance. The Automobil Revue commented at the time: "However, the Flaminia dressed as a coupé by Pinin Farina and as a Gran Turismo by Touring and Zagato, which are built on a shorter wheelbase, will cause the biggest stir. Instead of the normal engine with 112 SAE hp, all three cars had a slightly modified engine with 119 DIN hp or 131 SAE hp. The V6 engine from Lancia, with its sloping valves and hemispherical combustion chambers, is excellent for puffing. The four-seater coupe from Pinin Farina has a wheelbase of 275 cm (the normal Flaminia wheelbase measures 287 cm). The coupé body, made entirely of sheet steel, is spacious; the car weighs 1390 kg; its top speed of 170 km/h makes it a fast and luxurious touring car for up to four people. "
