Summary
The Lancia Delta was built from 1979 to 1993, initially with well-behaved 1.3 and 1.5 liter engines, but soon with sporty units and turbochargers. The Delta HF Turbo was introduced in 1983 and it was at this time that the coachbuilder Zagato began to work on the Delta as a tuner. This report is dedicated to a particularly rare Lancia Delta HF Turbo with contemporary Zagato bodywork refinement, which was once driven by Andrea Zagato himself. Of course, the Delta's early history is also taken into account.

The Lancia Delta was presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1979. At that time, Lancia had long been in the hands of Fiat and one might have expected the Delta to be a twin brother of the Fiat Ritmo. But far from it: apart from the engines, the Lancia engineers developed almost everything from scratch.
