In 1954, Lancia presented the B24/B24S Spider, which was based on the successful Aurelia platform. The open and relatively purist Gran Turismo was replaced just two years later by a more comfortable convertible, with the result that only 240 America Spiders left the Pininfarina factory. While the prototype is said not to have survived, the second vehicle built still exists. This vehicle report describes the history of the Lancia B24S America Spider and shows it in many pictures and in the original brochure.

In 1950, Lancia presented its first post-war design, the Aurelia, and it was one that had it all. The engine was the first V6 engine ever produced in series, the gearbox was located at the rear of the differential for better weight distribution and the body of the saloon was semi-self-supporting. As early as 1951, Pinin Farina presented a four-seater convertible on the chassis of the Aurelia, which, however, was more suited to comfort than sporting requirements. For sporty customers, there was the coupé with a two-liter engine from 1951 and the faster version with a 2.5-liter engine from 1953.
