Ferrucio Lamborghini had earned so much money from the manufacture of tractors, oil burners and air conditioning systems that he was able to fulfill a long-cherished dream in 1963: He built himself a prototype and thus founded one of the most famous sports car brands. Ferrucio Lamborghini was born on April 28, 1916, the son of an Italian farmer. He soon showed more interest in technology than in agriculture, and so he began studying engineering at the University of Bologna. The war interrupted his studies, but he was given the opportunity to repair engines on the island of Rhodes. He returned to the mainland in 1946 and founded his own company. Initially, he manufactured small tractors from used car parts. 10 years later, he was one of the largest tractor manufacturers in Italy.
