Summary
Faster, sportier and tougher - the Ford Capri RS 2600 converted all those doubters who had previously denied that the Capri was a sports car. And it was also reasonably priced, especially compared to a Porsche 911, which it was on a par with in terms of performance. At least that's what Auto Revue reported after its test drives. This article reproduces the original wording of the test report at the time and shows the car in historical photos and the original sales brochure.

Preview (beginning of the article)
When the Capri was created in Cologne and rode the sporty wave, real fans were not very satisfied. Although the long-snouted coupé with its sleek lines became the number one bestseller, the voices that spoke of imposture did not fall silent. At least the financially strong complainers have now had the rug pulled out from under their feet. Because with the Capri RS 2600, Ford is presenting a car whose performance potential will inspire respect even from the most hardened sports drivers. Even from the outside, the Capri's appearance suggests that its interior has undergone a power makeover. Apart from the black-painted hood and alloy wheels, the absence of bumpers immediately catches the eye. The purpose of this measure, which can only have a disastrous effect when parking, was to save weight. In conjunction with the already completed homologation as a series touring car, Ford was already considering entries in motorsport competitions.
