Northern Europe liked to think of Lancias as wallflowers or shade plants, especially in the seventies and eighties. Yet the products of the traditional Italian brand used to be something very special. Much more refined and comfortable than a Fiat, with technical sophistication and cleverness, but not as ostentatious and sporty as an Alfa Romeo (apart from exotic models such as the Stratos). The restrained but stylishly designed 2000 saloon from the early seventies is a prime example of Lancia's philosophy of building a car for the discerning individualist.
