Summary
When the successor to the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was presented in 1988, some fans were somewhat disappointed, as the "new one" was much more civilian and suitable for everyday use. This did not change with the 4x4 version that followed in 1990, except that it was now even faster with 220 catalytic converter horsepower. Visually inconspicuous, the "Cossie" had become a veritable "wolf in sheep's clothing". This driving report is about a Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4 with catalytic converter from 1991 and shows it in many pictures and some historical photo material. There is also a sound sample.

Preview (beginning of the article)
The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was presented in the mid-1980s as a super-sporty three-door model with over 200 hp and an eye-catching spoiler, which went on to achieve impressive racing successes. The successor in 1988 was based on the four-door Sierra sedan and dispensed with an overly extroverted tail unit. This did not make the new model any slower, especially as it also provided optimum traction with all-wheel drive from 1989. The first Ford Sierra was launched in 1982, more aerodynamic and modern than its predecessor, the Ford Taunus. Soon there were sporty versions, first the XR4i and later the CS Cosworth, which not only boasted over 200 turbo-breathed horsepower, but also a brute rear wing and an extremely sporty appearance.
