Summary
In 1974, Porsche presented the fastest sports car in the world at the time: the Turbo. It cost around twice as much as a conventional 911 and appealed to customers who might otherwise have bought a Ferrari or Maserati. Those for whom the "normal" Turbo was not exclusive and visually striking enough could also have a variant built at the factory with similarities to the 935 racing car. And double the price again. This report shows one of the rare flat-body variants and tells the story of the racing car for the road on special request.

Preview (beginning of the article)
In 1973, Porsche presented the "Turbo" for the first time, in simple terms a 911 with a turbocharger. From 1974, it could be purchased for DM 65,800 or CHF 78,650. This made the sports car, known for its brilliant acceleration, the most expensive Porsche of its time, but some buyers were happy to invest even more money. The Turbo ( Type 930) was not actually developed primarily for the road, but as a basis for the homologation of racing cars in Group 4 and 5 at the time. At least 400 production vehicles had to be produced for this purpose. However, the sporting laws allowed a great deal of freedom, especially in Group 5, and so the displacement of the Porsche 935 was optimized, the performance increased and the appearance adapted to the laws of aerodynamics with the aim of reducing drag and increasing downforce. In addition, the body was widened to accommodate wheels over 14 inches wide.
