The above title is often wrongly awarded. However, the BMW 2000 TI not only left many two-seaters behind on the highway, but was also able to keep up with the best sports cars on winding roads - not even wearing a tracksuit, just a well-fitting sports jacket. This historic test sheds light on the many advantages and (very) few criticisms of the fastest BMW mid-range.

The good sales successes of the BMWs of the "new class" are certainly based to a large extent on the advertising effectiveness of the laurels won with this car in sport. So it was almost a matter of course that BMW also thought of the sports cars when the engine capacity was last increased: just as the 1800 was joined by the 1800 TI, the 2000 was now also joined by a sharper version, the 2000 TI, which represents a better starting position for competition cars. In addition, the 2000 TI provides even more demanding drivers with a model whose temperament is sometimes too exuberant on our roads.
