Sensitive little six-cylinder - Fiat 1800 B in (historical) test
Summary
While the competitors in the mid-range only offered mundane four-cylinder engines, Fiat offered its customers a smooth six-cylinder with the 1800 B. This article reproduces a test report from the Motor-Runschau of 1962 and reveals what the testers scribbled on the clipboard at the time.

The Fiat 1800 B is the prestigious and very comfortably equipped large mid-range car from the Italians. It is a car in which you feel comfortable and in which it is easy to stop criticizing because everything is so uncomplicated and quite natural. Incidentally, the same car was also available on request as a Type 2300 with a 2.3-liter, six-cylinder 102 hp engine at a surcharge of exactly DM 1000. In any case, this double Type 1800 B/ 2300 is a comfortable five-seater family car that can also be used to take a sixth person along for a short time. If you can afford it, choose the 2.3-liter model, as the otherwise identical 1800 B is somewhat underpowered in comparison.
