The Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato will celebrate its premiere at Le Mans on the weekend of June 16, 2019. It is a so-called "continuation" vehicle, i.e. a car produced according to original plans and specifications.
The 4.7-liter in-line six-cylinder engine in the Continuation GTZ is said to produce around 390 hp. The car is not intended to be road-legal, but an FIA-approved roll cage has been fitted and participation in historic racing events should therefore be possible.
Each of the newly built DB4 GT Zagato will cost £6 million. First deliveries are expected in the third quarter of 2019. Around 4500 hours of work will go into each car.
For Aston Martin, building new old cars is nothing new; normal DB4 GTs and the Bond DB5 are also being recreated.
19 originals
At the beginning of the 1960s, 19 DB4 GTs were created in collaboration between Zagato and Aston Martin. They impressed with their aerodynamically outstanding and lightweight bodywork.
Although they were only able to fully assert themselves against the dominant Ferrari 250 GTO in exceptional cases, visually the Aston and the Ferrari belong in the same league.
