For the first time, the Bonhams auction house is organizing an auction of exquisite collector's cars on the occasion of the Zoute Concours d'Elégance on 13 October 2013 (and the Classic Rally on the same weekend). The first vehicle will be called at 18:00 on Friday, October 11, 2013.
45 vehicles worth five million
The Zoute sales list represents a broad spectrum of classic cars. According to estimated prices, the total value of the offer is around EUR 5 million or CHF 5.5 million. On average, the hammer is expected to fall at around EUR 108,000 or CHF 133,000.
Pre-war rarity Cottin-Desgouttes 12 HP from 1924
Pierre Desgouttes had already designed automobiles at Berliet, from 1904 he did this on his own responsibility and from 1906 in collaboration with Cyrille Cottin, a wealthy industrialist. The vehicles built impressed with their technically innovative solutions and racing successes.
After the First World War, the company mainly produced luxurious cars, and in 1922 the medium-sized Cottin-Desgouttes 12-HP Type M was introduced. The four-cylinder engine had overhead valves - three per cylinder - and a crankshaft with five bearings. All wheels were braked, which was by no means a matter of course at the time. The Type M on offer with torpedo bodywork and built in 1924 has been in a museum for some time, but is said to be roadworthy. In view of its rarity, the estimated price of 40,000 to 60,000 euros is certainly not too high.
The star - one of two Ferrari 250 Europa prototypes
The Ferrari 250 Europa from 1954, which Pininfarina gave an elegant coupé body, is expected to fetch around one million euros. The vehicle on offer with chassis number 0297EU was long thought to be the last 212, but it was discovered that it was actually one of the first two prototypes with a short chassis and 3-liter Colombo engine. This means that the two prototypes not only differed from the other 250 Europa, which had the Lampredi version under the hood, by a 2 cm shorter chassis, but also by the engine.
Attractive Maserati A6G/54GT with Allemano coupé bodywork
In 1954, Maserati introduced the new A6G/54 model, aimed at customers who were looking for a fast sports car that performed just as well in everyday traffic as it did in racing. The bodies were built by Zagato, Frua and Allemano. The car on offer cost Lire 3,034,000 in 1957 and is now being offered with an estimated price of Euro 450,000 to 650,000. That's not exactly a bargain, but in view of its rarity - only 21 vehicles were built - it is probably an intelligent investment.
Porsche 356 B 1600 Roadster with Drauz bodywork
They are considered rare, the 356 models with Drauz bodywork. Built in 1961, the vehicle on offer at Bonhams has been completely restored and has extensive documentation. However, at 110,000 to 140,000 euros, it is also worth a considerable sum.
Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint S2 Touring with concours potential
In 1999, the Alfa Romeo 1900C Sprint Series 2 with touring body was invited to the Concours d'Elégance Pebble Beach, in 2001 and 2002 it took part in Palo Alto and came first and second. The restoration followed in the late nineties and the car still looks like a show winner today, which is reflected in the estimated price of 145,000 to 185,000 euros.
Attractive Citroën Méhari 4x4 from 1980
Just 1200 examples of the Citroën Méhari, of which around 145,000 were built, had four-wheel drive, making the yellow restored car on offer a rarity that has also had owners in Germany, Italy and France. However, at between 24,000 and 32,000 euros, the French car with its plastic body is not exactly cheap.
Affordable Citroën SM
A pastel green metallic Citroën SM from 1972 with the preferred five-speed gearbox appears to be reasonably priced at between 10,000 and 15,000 euros. After all, the car was partially restored in 2010 and the speedometer only showed 75,000 kilometers at the time.
Many unusual vehicles on offer
The Autobianchi Bianchina Tranformabile from 1961, the BMW Isetta from 1959, the Croco TAG amphibious vehicle from 1983, the Lamborghini LM 002 from 1991 with only 1,266 kilometers on the clock, the BMW 327 Coupé from 1944, the Citroën DS19 Décapotable from 1962, the Austin A125 Sheerline Cabriolet from 1949 with bodywork by Vesters & Neirinck from Brussels, a replica of the JFK limousine Lincoln Continental from 1963 or the Porsche 924 Carrera GT from 1980.
Further information and descriptions of all vehicles can be found on the organizer's website.
