From August 7 to 9, 2026, the Erwin Hymer Museum will once again be transformed into a meeting place for lovers of historic camping vehicles. The Vintage Camper Days invite fans of classic camping culture to enjoy a summer weekend with friends.
The open-air event focuses on historic caravans, iconic camper vans, charming motorhomes and stylish tents. Vintage camping enthusiasts from all over Germany and neighboring countries have the opportunity to present their vehicles on the museum grounds and share their enthusiasm for classic travel.
"The Vintage Camper Days are more than just a classic car gathering - they bring together people who love the culture of automobile travel. We are looking forward to once again filling the museum grounds with special vehicles, exciting stories and a relaxed festival atmosphere," says museum director Sascha Fillies.
The event combines relaxed camping with an extensive supporting program. All participants receive a pitch including electricity on the supervised museum grounds as well as access to modern sanitary facilities. Participation also includes fresh bread rolls on Saturday and Sunday morning, various guided tours of the museum and depot and live music on both evenings.
A special highlight of the Vintage Camper Days is the all-inclusive barbecue on Saturday evening. In a relaxed atmosphere, guests can exchange travel experiences, make new contacts and enjoy a relaxed summer getaway.
Visitors interested in technology also have the opportunity to take part in a specialist workshop in the museum workshop and receive practical tips from experts.
The participation fee is 149 euros per vehicle or vehicle-trailer combination and 50 euros for each additional person. Places are limited.
The Vintage Camper Days will take place from August 7 to 9, 2026 at the Erwin Hymer Museum. Registration and further information can be found on the museum's website.
