The second edition of the ADAC Youngtimer Tour Bodensee on Saturday, June 13, impressively demonstrated just how vibrant the young classic car scene is. Around 60 vehicles set off from the Klassikwelt Bodensee in Friedrichshafen and, under the motto “The Art of Brewing, Cheese, and Fruit Delights,” followed a varied route through the Lake Constance, Bregenzerwald, Westallgäu, and Hopfenland regions. Highlights included the Meckatzer Brewery and Hopfengut No. 20, as well as the finish line at the ADAC Oldtimer Park Arena in the heart of the trade fair grounds. The youngtimers were led by historic emergency vehicles from the Stuttgart Police Museum. At the subsequent awards ceremony, the teams celebrated together with visitors well into the night.
Under bright sunshine, the approximately 170-kilometer route offered winding roads, breathtaking scenery, and regional delicacies, as well as small challenges that demanded skill and precision from the teams. Roman Storz and Melanie Nabert secured the overall victory in their 1998 Mercedes-Benz SLK and can look forward to a gift certificate for an ADAC driver safety training course. Second place went to Marco Mayr and Joice Smodic in their 2000 Honda S2000. In keeping with the summery weather, they received beach chairs from partner TÜV Süd. Steffen and Björn Sklar were delighted to receive a liter of motor oil and a gift certificate for a product from Wagner Classic Oil. They competed in their 1997 BMW E36 sedan.
Jochen and Annemarie Heinlein celebrated a special anniversary, having participated in an ADAC Youngtimer Tour at Lake Constance for the 20th time. They can celebrate winning a trophy and 6th place. Stefan Keller and Magnus Maier received an honorary award for competing in a 2000 Honda Civic Aerodeck on behalf of the Stuttgart Automotive Guild. With this award, ADAC Klassik recognizes the guild’s strong commitment to promoting young talent. “I’m really proud of our guys. With a lot of passion and dedication, they’ve shown just how committed the next generation is to our trade. We’re very pleased that the ADAC is recognizing this commitment with an honorary award, and it reaffirms the value of our work,” said Wilhelm Supper of the Stuttgart Automotive Guild.
For the first time on an ADAC Youngtimer Tour, the teams had the opportunity to refuel with up to 20 liters of e-fuels free of charge. The fuel was kindly provided by the Aspen Group and generated a great deal of interest among the participants. Many took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the technology and its potential applications on-site. The e-fuels originate from the “DeCarTrans” research project, which is driving the development of renewable alternatives for the transportation sector. The initiative not only provided practical added value for the tour but also demonstrated how classic automotive culture and modern, sustainable fuel solutions can be meaningfully combined.
