Fans of the "Albisgütli Classics Cars & Bikes" classic car and modern classic car event had to wait around six months before they could meet up again in Zurich on April 19, 2026. The weather forecasts didn't make it easy for them, because in typical April fashion, they could expect continuous rain on one occasion and sunshine on another.
In the end, however, Zurich showed its best side and provided perfect conditions with blue skies, a few passing bands of cloud and pleasant temperatures.
These attracted a large number of cars and motorcycles. Not everyone made it home completely dry, but the majority benefited from the pleasant spring weather.
Large crowds
Despite the Sechseläuten children's parade in the afternoon (and the associated traffic restrictions in Zurich), many vintage and classic car drivers from half of Switzerland made their way to Albisgütli on April 19, 2026. Even the lowest parking lot had to be opened early to accommodate the steady stream of cars streaming in.
Accordingly, there was plenty to see for the crews getting out of the vehicles.
As always at Albisgütli, the variety was huge. From bread-and-butter cars such as the VW Beetle, once built in their millions, to sports car exotics such as the Iso Rivolta Lele, the TVR 3000 S or the Lamborghini Countach, there was everything to delight the heart.
And what once drove thousands of times on our roads has itself become a rarity again today. Examples included an Audi 50, which is rarely seen today.
The range of eras was broad, with an emphasis on the sixties to nineties. However, some pre-war cars also found their way to Zurich and the odd neo-classic (or newtimer) also managed to cheat their way through the entrance control.
What's more, some classic cars that were considered youngtimers just a short time ago can now proudly drive in as classic cars, such as the Smart Fortwo.
Special show in the hall
In the hall, meanwhile, a wide selection of Fiat 500s in a variety of colors and designs were on display. Two Autobianchi Bianchina were also among them, as they were based on the same technology platform.
However, as the weather outside was almost too nice, most visitors preferred to stroll between the rows of vehicles in the parking lot instead of looking around the dark hall.
Lots of camaraderie
In any case, gatherings like this one at the Albisgütli are a welcome opportunity to meet like-minded people, friends and colleagues who you don't normally have around you all the time. This can be seen from the conversations that take place.
And the restaurant and sausage stands ensure that you don't have to starve or die of thirst during these conversations.
A great event that is certainly worth the five franc entrance fee, especially as TCS members don't have to pay anything.
Twice more in 2026
The other dates for the "Albisgütli Classics Cars & Bikes" event have of course been fixed for a long time. Anyone who missed the first event can try again on July 5 or September 27, 2026.
