For days, many people had been discussing whether Techno Classica would take place in March 2020. There were no official announcements until March 11, 2020, but there were unanimous votes on a wide variety of channels. By March 10, 2020 at the latest, however, it was considered fairly certain that Techno Classica would be postponed or canceled, as the government (NRW) had banned events with more than 1000 people.
Definitely postponed
On March 12, 2020, Siha made the official announcement regarding the postponement:
"An important basis is the decree of the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia dated March 10, 2020 on the holding of major events. In order to prevent the further spread of SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus), the responsible authorities have been instructed to prohibit the holding of events with more than 1000 visitors.
The health of our visitors, exhibitors and employees is always our top priority. With this sense of responsibility, we have been in close contact with the responsible health authorities, Messe Essen, exhibitors, associations, clubs and partners in recent days and have decided by mutual agreement that Techno Classica Essen will be postponed to June 24 to 28, 2020.
Together with its exhibitors, the S.I.H.A. is looking forward to a successful Techno Classica Essen 2020."
In view of the trade fair on 24 to 28 June 2020, S.I.H.A., which organizes Techno Classica, will be presenting a preview from 13 to 21 March 2020 in the shopping center at LImbecker Platz in Essen (exact address: Limbecker Platz 1a in 45127 Essen), where selected vehicles from the trade fair and from collector collections will be on display.
Further information can of course be found on the S.I.H.A. event website.
