The Schloss Dyck Classic Days are one of the standards of the German classic car scene. Every year, tens of thousands make the pilgrimage to the beautiful castle to follow fast classic cars on the circuit and watch elegant classics in the Concours d'Elégance.
It's that time again from August 1 to 3, 2014. And a lot is planned.
The manufacturers with classics and celebrities
This year's Classic Days will once again feature a number of attractions. For example, the Volkswagen Group is bringing an entire sports paddock to the new paddock:
- Porsche 550 Spyder from 1955
- Denzel Sport Super 1300 from 1957
- Rally Golf G60
- Cup Scirocco (Scirocco 1)
- Scirocco GT24 - Nürburgring 24-hour race 2014
- Audi V8 DTM from 1990
And the cars are also accompanied by their drivers, namely Jacky Ickx, Hans-Joachim "Strietzel" Stuck and Klaus Niedzwiedz.
Also of historical interest is the Škoda 1100 Sport Le Mans from 1949, which is being brought from the Czech Republic by a private owner and also completed the 24h-Classic at Le Mans this year.
Mercedes Benz is also bringing some attractive racing cars and prototypes to Schloss Dyck:
- Mercedes Grand Prix racing car, 1914

Cult of America
n a new area right next to the castle, the 51st state of the USA was briefly established in 2014. With an original diner behind corrugated aluminum walls, Airstream with burgers, a music and rock-n-roll stage and a large drive-in cinema parking lot for at least 20 selected USA cars from 1946 to 1965.
A large get-together for lovers of the US lifestyle and a colorful journey through time will take place under aluminum pennants and the Californian sun under the stars and stripes banner on the front fences of small American towns with the oh-so-typical mailboxes (which you just can't talk on) with flags.
Special run con Cyclecars
The Classic Days 2014 with a special run of selected "Cycle Cars" on the famous Monthéry race track. These cars were designed as fast, lightweight racing vehicles, but were also sold as inexpensive automobiles from 1910 to the end of the 1920s.
Cyclecars were powered by single-cylinder engines, V2 engines or, more rarely, four-cylinder engines.
In the relevant years, there were over 50 different cycle car brands in the USA, 151 in England and almost 110 in France. An incredible variety with technical sophistication and fantastic looks.
There will also be a special run of sports cars from the seventies, from the Maserati Ghibli and Ferrari 365 GTC/4 to the Lamborghini Espda. And hopefully there will also be a De Tomaso Mangusta and an Alfa Romeo Montreal.
FIVA-A-Concours
The Concours d'Elégance will be held in seven categories in 2014:
- Automobiles of the early period "Ancetre" up to 1904 (Class A)
- Veteran cars "Veteran" from 1905 to 1918 (Class B)
- Automobiles of the vintage era "Vintage" from 1919 to 1930 (Class C)
- Post Vintage from 1931 to 1945 (Class D)
- The dawn of a new mobility "Post War" from 1946 to 1960 (Class E )
- Years of internationality & fashion from 1961 to 1970 (Class F)
- The young history from 1971 to 1980 (Class G)
It will be interesting to see which cars Marcus Herfort and his team will be able to bring to Schloss Dyck this year.
Classic car party with emotion
There are always beautiful cars in the club parking lots around the castle and the many different exhibition areas. One day is usually not enough to see everything!
A movie shows more than many words what the Classic Days are all about:
