For the sixth time, the Concours d'Elegance and the Rallye Historique will be held at the Schloss Bensberg Classics from July 18 to 20, 2014. Participants have been able to register since February 10, 2014.
The noble Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg near Cologne will continue to serve as the venue.
On Saturday, July 19, 2014, the Schloss Bensberg Classics will kick off for the public with the Rallye Historique through the Bergisches Land. A field of classic cars limited to 80 teams will then take to the charming route.
Traditionally, many celebrities drive the cars on this challenging ride.
Concours d'Elégance with class for plastic vehicles
The highlight of the event is the Concours d'Elégance on Sunday, July 20, 2014: against the imposing backdrop of the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, 40 selected rarities will be presented in 16 categories, including numerous one-offs, prototypes and design studies.
"Very important cars only" - this is not only the official event motto, but also the benchmark for the selection of the field of participants. In addition to powerful luxury liners, open-top sports cars and streamlined cars from the pre-war era, rare convertibles and forgotten Italians from the 50s, 60s and 70s will also be on show.
For the first time, a separate class for elegant vehicles with plastic bodies will be at the start.
Top-class jury
The cars will be judged and the winning vehicles selected by a top-class jury chaired by Dr.-Franz-Josef Paefgen, former CEO of Bentley Motors and President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. In addition to renowned automotive designers such as Andrea Zagato, the legendary racing driver Jacky Ickx will also be among the judges. The Schloss Bensberg Classics has been organized by the Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg since 2009 and receives significant support from the Volkswagen Group. The magnificent ambience of the baroque Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, the exclusive selection of unique historic vehicles and numerous celebrities from business, sport and culture give this event a charisma that is unlikely to be experienced anywhere else in this form.
