The Vintage Sports-Car Club Suisse (VSCC) conducted a survey for a winter rally a while ago. The results of the survey should set the direction for the new winter rally"Cursa Classica" on January 30 and 31, 2015 and thus lead to success.
Survey results determine the rally
The feedback to the survey amounted to around 6% of the addresses contacted. 37% said yes to a winter rally, 29% were undecided and 34% said no. This means that 2/3 of the survey participants would not rule out taking part in a VSCC winter rally. 50% wanted to drive with and 50% without timekeeping and 70% were looking forward to a night stage. Sunday was poorly received as an event start day, 65% would like to start on Friday.
There was some criticism of the entry fee - but that's just the way it is; classic rallies have little tradition in Switzerland - meaning that the rally will be started without sponsors, but the VSCC is working on it. The basic trend is positive!
Two classes with and without night stage
Two classes are to be announced with a rally sport classification that includes a night stage and a rally classification without a night stage.
The timekeeping is done by GPS transmitter. The route has not yet been finalized and changes may still be made before the rally at the end of January.
Provisional but interesting program
On Friday morning, January 30, there will be an administrative and technical scrutineering of the cars, followed by the start in Tiefencastel in the afternoon in the direction of Lenzerheide. The route then leads via Davos to Cazis/Thusis and back to Tiefencastel. For those who have registered for the sport classification, there will be a night stage with an as yet unknown route.
Starting in Tiefencastel, Saturday, January 31st begins at the same place as the day before. From Tiefencastel, the route heads into Ticino, after which the participants will pass through northern Italy and return to Tiefencastel via Maloja and the Julier Pass. The teams will cross three mountain passes (you'll probably need to bring snow chains...) and cover a total distance of around 350 kilometers!
Registration and further information
The entry fee will be just over CHF 1,000. The target size is 50 to 60 teams. The announcement and an entry form have been active since the beginning of December, where you can easily register using the online form.
Further information and the link to the registration form can be found on the VSCC Suisse website.
