57 cars, a caravan, a motorcycle, two scooters and a boat, as well as a bouquet of Automobila will be auctioned virtually at RM in an "online only" format from December 1 to 8, 2021. The total value of the vehicles is estimated at over USD 5 million. As always, the cars and motorcycles will be offered from various countries, with 20 coming from Europe and the rest being offered in USD, mainly from the USA and Canada.
No dominant brands
As many as 31 brands are represented, Porsche and Chevrolet with six cars and Ford with five. Aston Martin, for example, is represented by three cars.
On average, the vehicles are 46 years old, and a good fifth are being auctioned without a reserve price.
Some super classics
There are some classic cars on offer that are frequently seen at auctions, such as an Asotn Martin DBS from 1968, a BMW 3.0 CS from 1974 or a Ferrari F355 Spider.
An early Porsche 911 from 1966 or a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet from 1989 are certainly also among the super classics, as is the VW Bus Type2 Deluxe "Samba" from 1962 on offer (estimated value USD 150,000 to 170,000).
A modern super classic is the Dodge Viper GTS from 1997. The coupé is reminiscent of the Cobra Daytona and has an eight-liter V10 under the hood. It was estimated to cost between USD 80,000 and 120,000.
And of course, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and Jaguar E-Type are also among the classics that are always popular at auction, with one of each on sale at RM.
And for fans of Italian curves, there is, for example, a Lancia Flaminia GT 3C 2.5 as a coupé from 1962.
Exotic cars that you don't see every day
However, many classic car enthusiasts are unlikely to have ever seen a Playboy A48 Convertible "in the flesh". Only 97 of these aerodynamic US convertibles with a compact design were built in the post-war years, and 43 are said to have survived.
The special feature was the folding and retractable hardtop, which was later also found on an SLK, for example. The Playboy is estimated to have cost between USD 60,000 and 70,000.
The Imperial Crown Convertible from Chrysler, which was sold under its own brand, is also rare.
The 1961 example on offer is said to be one of 429 examples produced in 1961 and the car is certainly not lacking in conspicuousness. EUR 115,000 to 150,000 should be invested in this car, which was stationed in Denmark.
The Fiat 1100 TV Desirée Coupé by Vignale from 1956 was also produced in a very small series.
The lines are thanks to Giovanni Michelotti and the rare car even made it to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elégance in 2019, albeit without winning. The purchase price is now expected to be between USD 90,000 and 130,000.
The Citroën 2 CV Charleston from 1984, which was completely restored in 2016 and is for sale from Italy for EUR 8,000 to 12,000, should perhaps also be mentioned.
