For the first time, RM/Sotheby's is organizing an auction at Motor World Munich. On November 26, 2022, 74 vehicles worth EUR 24.88 million will go under the hammer. An average of EUR 336,216 is therefore expected for the 67 cars and seven motorcycles. 57 percent of the lots will go under the hammer without a reserve price!
BMW and Ferrari in particular
With 29 BMWs, which are 51 years old on average, and 15 Ferraris, which have an average of four decades under their belt, two brands are dominant in Munich.
Of the other manufacturers, only Mercedes-Benz (6) and Porsche (5) have a handful of cars, while other brands are represented by one or two vehicles at most. The range is dominated by well-known manufacturers, while genuine exotics are missing.
Only a few super classics apart from BMW
Because the offer is comparatively youthful, apart from BMW, the super classics are less represented than at other auctions.
Nevertheless, a Jaguar XK 120 from 1976, a Lamborghini Diablo GTR from 1999, a Lancia Arelia B24S from 1958, a Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster from 1938 and a Porsche 356 Pre-A Speedster from 1955 can be found in the catalog.
And of course there are also some attractive Ferrari sports cars from the fifties to the nineties. A Ferrari F40 from 1991 is estimated to be the most expensive car in the auction.
However, the Dino 206 GT from 1969 as a project, the 250 GTE from 1963, the 330 America from 1963, the 330 GT 2+2 from 1964 or the 365 GTB/4 Daytona from 1973 are certainly also of interest.
There is also a Ferrari 250 GT Coupé from 1959, a second 250 GTE from 1962 and two mid-engined Ferraris, namely a 512 BBi from 1983 and a Testarossa from 1991.
And the still affordable Dino 308 GT4 from 1976 can certainly also exude a lot of driving pleasure.
Highly interesting BMW collection
Lots 144 to 175 come from a single collection, i.e. a total of 32 vehicles, three of which are motorcycles and four non-BMW brands are also represented, namely an Austin Mini Cooper S from 1966, a Rover Mini Cooper 1.3i from 1998, a Rolls-Royce Phantom II from 1934 and a Dixi DA1 from 1928, which was later also available as a BMW 3/15 PS (DA1/DA2).
The entire collection will be offered "without reserve", i.e. even if the bids do not reach the estimated values, it will be sold. This also applies to the gray BMW M1, ex Jochen Neerpasch from 1980 and the BMW 507 Roadster Series II from 1958.
The collection shows an interesting cross-section of BMW's car manufacturing activities over around 75 years and also includes more common vehicles such as a BMW 700 or a BMW 528.
However, the majority are well-known classics from the program, including a BMW 328, a BMW 323i, two BMW Z1s and an Isetta 250.
The M3 faction is also well represented with an E30, an E36 and an E46 (CSL).
Racing cars also found their way into the collection, such as a BMW 320 from 1993 and a BMW 635 CSI from 1983.
Hardly any bargains to be expected
Real bargains can hardly be expected in Munich, even though the lower estimate of several vehicles is EUR 20,000 and many cars are offered without a minimum price.
The most expensive cars include a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, a Ford GT and a McLaren MP4-16, a Lamborghini Reventon as well as a Ferrari F12 TdF and a 599 GTO, all of which were produced after the turn of the millennium.
Further details about the cars and many photos can be found on the RM/Sotheby's website.
