This year's Concours d'Elégance "Retro Classics meets Baroque" in Ludwigsburg Palace Gardens will take place from June 20 - 22, 2014.
For the eleventh time, luxurious classic cars, legendary "bread and butter cars" from the post-war period, impressive pre-war cars and design icons will be on show alongside special classes of modern vehicles in front of the Residential Palace in the north of Stuttgart.
According to the organizers, around 30,000 visitors come to the classic car event in the Schlosspark every year, where the owners of the rarities compete in the automotive beauty contest in various classes to be judged by the jury. The highlight is the awarding of the Grand Prix of German Automobile Tradition.
The rules of the Concours d'Elégance
Since 2004, the Ludwigsburg Concours has been included in the exclusive series of A-class events by the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA), the world association of classic car clubs, and is therefore one of the world-famous FIVA A-Concours.
Admission to this Concours is by application and after final approval by the selection committee. Participation is also possible by special invitation.
Each vehicle can only take part in the Concours d' Élégance once. Vehicles of all makes and types built or constructed between 1886 and 1964 are admitted to the Concours. At the Festival of Classic Cars, this applies to vehicles up to 1984 with the exception of special fields.
Only vehicles in running order are eligible to take part. They will be selected according to historical, technical and aesthetic aspects, their safety, authenticity, elegance and sophistication of design. The selection committee reserves the right to accept vehicles that do not fully meet these requirements. It groups the registered vehicles into the respective classes according to corresponding comparison criteria and similarities and may combine or further subdivide classes depending on the number of registrations. The vehicles will be assessed by the jury in accordance with FIVA rules. This evaluation will be supervised on site by a FIVA steward.
