The current special exhibition at Pantheon Basel in Muttenz features both Minis and Austin-Healey vehicles. Derivatives such as the Mini Marcos or modifications of the Austin-Healey sports cars are also on display. "Very British" at any rate!
While Donald Healey was, of course, all about sports cars, the Mini was primarily dedicated to everyday transportation. But the owners of the tiny car soon realized that the Mini also had other talents.
And so, alongside the well-behaved utility minis, the pantheon also includes hot-rodded minis.
Donald Healey, on the other hand, had little interest in everyday cars. Right from the start, he had his heart set on sports cars. As early as 1931, he won the Monte Carlo Rally in an Invicta. After the war, he founded his own sports car company, and many enthusiasts still know the Healey Silverstone today, even though the numbers were small. Output then increased enormously with the Austin-Healey 100. But this was not Donald Healey's last act.
Many of his designed cars can be admired in the Pantheon.
