When was the last time the 1961 Ferguson P99 was seen on the European mainland? It is registered on the start list of the historic Ollon-Villars hill climb! And the car certainly has a Swiss history. Because on August 27, 1964, Briton Peter Westbury started the European Hill Climb Championship race St. Ursanne-Les Rangier with it and became the second fastest driver of the day. And a year earlier, Jo Bonnier had already driven the Ferguson in Ollon-Villars!
In 1971, François Cevert set the record of 3'47.04 for the 8 km route (average 126.875 km/h) in a Tecno F2, which still stands today.
After 1998, 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2010, the international historic Ollon-Villars hill climb will take place again on September 14 and 15, 2013 .
Starting list with many rarities and jewels
But it's not just the Ferguson P99 that makes a visit to Valais in Switzerland worthwhile. Because among the more than 200 vehicles that will be driving on the historic race track, there are many jewels, such as several Bugatti, Amilcar and of course the typical hill climb cars of the sixties from Abarth to Lotus or Alfa Romeo to TVR.
And even former Le Mans cars will be making their way up the hill, such as a 1976 Inaltera and a 1964 Matra MS 650.
One of the most important hill climbs in Europe
Ollon-Villars looks back on an impressive history, as this hill climb was one of the most important events in Europe between 1953 and 1971. You can relive this history in September ...
