Owning a vintage or classic car is not just a privilege, it is also a responsibility. After all, the old cars should be preserved and protected so that they can also be shown to future viewers. To underline the importance of the historic automobile as a cultural asset, the Swiss Classic Car Association SHVF and the restorer association IgFS will be represented with a stand at Swiss Cultura 2020.
A people who live on pure pleasure?
The classic car scene is far too often perceived as a people who simply pursue pure pleasure. However, the scene is much more than that: it sees itself as a "carrier of culture"! To communicate this role to the wider public, the SHVF and the IgFS are taking part in Cultura Swiss.
The main objectives
Participation pursues two main objectives and one secondary objective. Main objective: To make the guardians of rolling cultural heritage known to the general public! The SHVF and the IgFS are dependent on as many visitors as possible. Admission is free if you register using this link (PDF)! The second objective is to make the classic car scene aware that "rolling cultural assets" are being cultivated here.
The secondary objective
The secondary objective is to show the public that the classic car scene represents "culture". Here, the SHVF and the IgFS are dependent on the organizer of the event. The SHVF is not aware of the extent to which the organizer can represent the general public.
