Daniel Müller, son of Swiss motorsport legend Herbert Müller [Porsche works driver 1973-1975] and his friend Philippe Siffert are organizing the 4th Oldtimer Pfingst MEET at the SEE-Restaurant Forellensee in Zweisimmen in honour of and as a tribute to outstanding Swiss motorsport legends - this year for both their fathers.
Both Swiss drivers achieved the status of Porsche works driver. And both drivers died far too young in accidents while pursuing their passion for motor racing.
The so-called "Whitsun MEET" will take place on Sunday, May 15 from 11 am to 4 pm. For gourmets, a sumptuous Bernese Oberland brunch is available from 11 a.m. (until 3 p.m.) on reservation; spontaneous diners can choose from the à la carte menu. But there is much more to marvel at.
While Jo Siffert also made a name for himself and earned respect in Formula 1 with victories, the diminutive "Stumpen-Herbie" established himself as a reliable, tough and very fast long-distance driver. He drove the 24 Hours of Le Mans 13 times, finishing second overall twice (1971 and 1974) in addition to winning his class in a Porsche.
Jo Siffert from Freiburg drove seven times at Le Mans, with his best results being class victories in the two-liter category and an overall 4th place in 1966 and a 5th place in 1967.
At the starts of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Herbert Müller not only drove the two most beautiful racing cars of the 1970s - the Ferrari 512 S and Porsche 917 - but also the official Matra MS 630 (1969) and the legendary Ford GT40 (1965).
And that's not all! Both drivers achieved overall victory at the legendary Targa Florio in Sicily, one of the most difficult events with world championship status! Jo Siffert won there in 1970 and Herbert Müller even in 1966 and 1973. The Targa Florio was one of the greatest sporting challenges ever with the racing cars driven at the time on closed country roads with 11 completed laps of 68 kilometers, each with over 770 bends ...
Jo Siffert and Herbert Müller's beautiful racing car models, memorabilia, photos, pictures and films and much more from the private family archives will be on display. Philippe Siffert, son of the racing legend, will also be present in person at Forellensee to present his watch collection "Jo Siffert Swiss Watches".
You can look forward to Daniel Müller telling the best stories from his life with his father Herbert Müller. Jo's and Herbie's friends, fans, racing mechanics, photographers, team bosses and the journalists who were there at the time are also invited to share their stories and anecdotes.
A visit to the 4th Oldtimer Pfingst MEET at Forellensee in Zweisimmen can be wonderfully combined with a wonderful journey over traffic-free passes from the Gruyère region via the Pays-d'Enhaut via Gstaad-Saanen to the alpine Forellensee.
Further information about the event can be found on the restaurant's website.
