The traditional autumn auction of the Oldtimer Gallery in Toffen will take place on October 20, 2018. There are 96 vehicles registered, including five motorcycles and a tractor. The total value of the vehicles is around CHF 3.4 million or EUR 3.0 million, so each lot is expected to fetch around CHF 38,000 or EUR 35,000.
Comparatively young offer
On average, the vehicles are 47 years old, with four cars, one tricycle and one motorcycle dating from the decades before the Second World War.
Seven cars were built in the current millennium, the latest two in 2008.
Strong American line-up
21 American vehicles (including one Harley-Davidson motorcycle) come from the USA, the rest mainly from Europe. The average age of the Americans is 53 years.
The brand spectrum ranges from Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge and Ford to Mercury, Nash, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac and Studebaker. Most US vehicles are valued in the mid five-digit range.
Mercedes most strongly represented
As an individual brand, Mercedes-Benz is the most strongly represented with nine vehicles, followed by six BMWs and Jaguars and five MGs.
48 brands on 95 vehicles indicate that many manufacturers are only represented with one or two cars, for example there is an Aston Martin, an Austin, a Borgward or a Toyota.
Two Ferrari twelve-cylinder engines
The brand from Maranello will be auctioning two sports cars in Toffen on October 20, 2018. Both are twelve-cylinder models, but this is almost the only thing the two cars have in common.
While the 330 GT from 1965 is a classic Granturismo with a front-mounted engine, the power unit of the 512 BB from 1981, which is the last lot to go under the hammer, is mounted at the rear in front of the rear axle.
In terms of estimated values, both cars are valued at around CHF 300,000 (EUR 270,000), so it will be interesting to see how the bidders see them.
Diverse selection of youngtimers
There is a particularly wide range of younger cars for sale at the end of October 2018.
There are several BMWs from the three- and five-series, an R129 from Mercedes-Benz as a 500 SL from 1992, an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante from 2001 or a Range Rover Vogue Plus 3.9i from 1991.
For smaller budgets, there is an Opel Vectra from 1991 or a Jaguar XK8 Coupé from 1997.
And for those looking for something special, the VW Corrado G60 from 1991 or the Jaguar XJS V12 Cabriolet from 1993 could be just the thing.
Few pre-war vehicles
For fans of the early days of the automobile, we recommend a B.S.A. tricycle, a 1931 MG M-Type, a 1935 Mercedes-Benz 200 W21, a 1937 Bentley 4 1/4 Litre Park Ward Saloon or a Dodge military vehicle.
For collectors and enthusiasts
Lancia collectors should take a look at the extremely well-preserved Montecarlo from 1980, friends of the French car industry may find the Citroën Méhari 4x4 from 1980 or the Citroën 11 BL from 1947, but possibly also the Renault 4 CV (rear/crème cut) a good addition to their collection.
The two Lancia Flaminia are also certainly worth a second look, as are the Ford Lotus Cortina from 1963 and the Mercedes-Benz 250 T (W123) from 1979.
There is not enough space here to list them all, but you can find all the vehicles in the following list and, of course, on the website of the Oldtimer Galerie Toffen.
