The fascination of the thousand miles from Brescia to Rome and back can hardly be experienced more intensely: Mercedes-Benz Classic is offering enthusiasts of the brand and historic motorsport exclusive starting places in the 1000 Miglia 2024 - not in the support vehicle, but at the wheel of an original Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé from the Mercedes-Benz Classic vehicle collection. Three vehicles are available.
The limited offer includes participation in the event with the Mercedes-Benz works team in a company-owned 300 SL (W 198), including a test drive weekend in Stuttgart, a racing driver as navigator in the passenger seat and comprehensive technical and organizational support. The price - depending on the package configuration - starts from 150,000 euros plus VAT.
Interested parties can apply now (until January 31, 2024) for one of the three starting places on the Mercedes-Benz website.
In the event of increased demand, the decision will be made by lot.
Technical support package also for participants with their own Mercedes-Benz classic car
Anyone taking part in the 1000 Miglia with their own Mercedes-Benz vehicle has the option of booking a service package for technical support from the specialists at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center. This package costs from 15,000 euros plus VAT.
In the footsteps of Sir Stirling Moss and Rudolf Caracciola
First held as a speed race in 1927, the 1000 Miglia is now one of the world's most popular regularity races for historic vehicles. Mercedes-Benz and the Mille Miglia have been closely linked since the very beginning. The brand has made history here time and again. In 1931, Rudolf Caracciola in a Mercedes-Benz SSKL (W 06) became the first driver from outside Italy to win the overall classification.
In 1955, Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson win in the 300 SLR (W 196 S) with the best time ever achieved at the Mille Miglia. Also in 1955, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé production sports cars won the GT classification for cars with a displacement of over 1.3 liters with a triple class victory.
Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupé (W 198)
The 300 SL with its characteristic gullwing doors is one of the most exciting cars in history. It was derived in 1954 from the racing sports car of the same name (W 194) from 1952. This first 300 SL made its racing debut in May 1952 - at the Mille Miglia.
What do Zwischengas readers think of this offer? Or would you rather buy a 190 SL or a 280 SL "Pagoda" and take a nice vacation in Italy around the Mille Miglia 2024 for the same or even less money? We are interested in your opinion.
