Nissan opened the "Heritage Zone", a new permanent public exhibition space at its Yokohama headquarters on September 27, 2019, which will showcase selected models from the company's extensive classic car collection.
Discover the heritage of Nissan
To mark the occasion, 19 historic models will be on display for a limited period. The Heritage Zone will help Nissan communicate its rich history and the company's constant focus on customer needs. The opening also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Nissan's move from Tokyo to Yokohama in 2009. Since then, more than 13 million people have visited the Nissan Global Headquarters Gallery to see for themselves the company's latest models and its vision for the future of mobility. Building on the popularity of the gallery, the new Heritage Zone is an informal place where visitors can discover Nissan's heritage through a variety of content.
Company foundation at the center of the exhibition
The Heritage Zone showcases classic models selected from hundreds of cars in the Nissan Heritage Collection. The vehicles on display are changed regularly to keep the exhibition fresh and informative. The first three vehicles on display are the 1935 Datsun 14 Roadster, the 1960 Prince Skyline Sport and the 1966 Nissan Silvia. An area of the Heritage Zone will be used to tell stories focusing on specific themes and perspectives from Nissan's history. The opening exhibition focuses on the founding of the company in the 1930s.
A 220-inch LED screen on the wall will display rare footage from Nissan's archives. This will add immersion and contemporary insight to the exhibition content, allowing visitors to experience the history of Nissan through the eyes of the people who were there at the time. This display shows the history of Nissan in miniature with more than 100 model cars from the company's history.
Supporting program and additional discovery opportunities
The Heritage Zone has a mini-library with a selection of automotive books and back issues of automotive magazines. Visitors can browse through these freely in a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. In addition to the permanent exhibition areas within the Heritage Zone, the Global Headquarters Gallery will host a special event from September 27-30. During this event, 19 historic cars will be on display, the largest number ever shown at the venue.
