The pandemic claims another victim. A few days ago, the Interclassics Maastricht, which was due to take place from January 13 to 16, 2022, had to be canceled. Now the postponement date has been announced.
Postponed to September 2022
In view of the pandemic situation, the organizers of the fair found it irresponsible to hold the fair in January. However, choosing an alternative date proved to be difficult. The new date now chosen for InterClassics Maastricht was originally intended for the first edition of the InterClassics Youngtimer Show, a show for the classics of tomorrow, with cars built between 1980 and 2010. This show must therefore be postponed by one year.
The theme of the first InterClassics Youngtimer Show is to be the rally cars from Group B and Group 4, for many synonymous with the heyday of international rallying. These classes not only offered four years of exciting rallies, but were also the model for various iconic road cars, such as the Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta Integrale or Renault 5 Turbo.
The Dutch Grand Prix as a special show
InterClassics Maastricht looks back on the highlights from the history of the Dutch Grand Prix. The eye-catcher is Max Verstappen's Red Bull Formula 1 racing car. With it, the racing driver with the number 33 was able to break Lewis Hamilton's dominance in his "Silver Arrow" and keep the world championship exciting until the final race next weekend. The RB16B is a further development of the Red Bull Formula 1 racing car from the 2020 season, but with a completely new engine. The 900 hp Honda engine has powered Verstappen to victory nine times this season, a record for the Dutchman!
Of course, the RB16B will be flanked by many different historic Formula 1 racing cars from home and abroad, giving visitors unique insights into the racing history of Circuit Zandvoort.
The 28th edition of InterClassics Maastricht will take place from Thursday, September 8 through Sunday, September 11, 2022 at MECC Maastricht. The classic car fair traditionally attracts many buyers and car fans. With 35,000 square meters of exhibition space, more than 800 classic cars and 300 exhibitors, InterClassics Maastricht is one of the largest classic car events in Europe.
