The new SwissClassics Revue 88-6/2021 is here. In addition to the successful ADO 16 from BMC, it also focuses on the recently opened Autohalle Andelfingen and the loving restoration of a Borgward Arabella from 1961. The buyer's guide focuses on the 8 Series from BMW's E31 series, and you can also read about Peter Maier, a highly influential and exciting personality. And there is much more besides...
A revolutionary with many names
The Morris 1100 was one of the most progressive cars of the sixties. It is remembered firstly for its special "Hydrolastic" suspension system and secondly for the extensive BMC brand range, which sold the ADO 16 under various brands and took "badge engineering" to the extreme. Even today, the colorful compact car family does not look antiquated.
Everything the classic car heart desires
On November 1, the Autohalle Andelfingen opened its doors and with it a new classic and modern classic car hotspot between Winterthur and Schaffhausen. A restaurant, hotel, event location for people, parking spaces and an integrated workshop for machines - both are fully catered for. We conducted two interviews to find out exactly what services the Autohalle provides in order to preserve the joy of rolling cultural assets.
Old beauty blossoms anew
It comes as no surprise that Roland Eisele would one day own his own Borgward Arabella - after all, he fell under the spell of the attractive limousine as a child. Ten years ago, he found his chosen one, which he then restored on his own initiative and with great dedication. You can read about how the 60-year-old car looks today and what plastic surgery was necessary from page 40 onwards.
The eventful history of the many layers
Paint not only gives a vehicle its color, it also protects the underlying materials from corrosion. These conditions have always been the same. However, everything else - colors, composition and painting techniques - has evolved with the automobile, which is why classic vehicles often present paint stores with challenges today. We explain what you need to know about (historic) car paintwork.
Buying advice BMW 8 Series E31
The "vita" of the 8 Series from Munich is like a rollercoaster ride. In the beginning, sales figures soared, but in times of economic downturn and more expensive fuel, the popularity of the chic and powerful coupés declined all the more rapidly. In the meantime, the form curve of the luxury GT is on the rise again, which is not surprising considering the driving comfort and interesting technology. However, this article explains what prospective buyers should pay attention to in addition to the complicated electronics.
The all-round motorist Peter Maier
In 1968, he won 13 out of 15 races in his NSU TT, converted a Formula 3 Brabham into his personal baby McLaren and gave Peter Sauber a run for his money. After his career behind the wheel, the man from Winterthur took over his parents' business and really got going.
